Scent is a personal fragrance wardrobe app. It helps you wear the perfumes you already own — it is not a shop, and it never sells your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers both our pre-launch waitlist and the Scent app itself.
Who we are
“Scent”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the team building the Scent app. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
Information we collect
We keep collection to the minimum needed to run the service.
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you enter so we can tell you when Scent launches.
- Your fragrance collection. Inside the app, the perfumes you add — names, notes, seasons and any tags you set — so we can recommend from your own shelf.
- Context for recommendations. Your approximate location (to fetch local weather) and the time of day and occasion you choose. Approximate location is used only to look up conditions; we do not build a location history.
- Usage & device data. Basic diagnostics such as app version, device type and anonymous, aggregated usage that helps us fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not knowingly collect payment card numbers ourselves — any future purchases are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, whose own privacy terms apply.
How we use your information
- To send you a single email when Scent launches, if you joined the waitlist.
- To generate your daily fragrance recommendation from the perfumes you own.
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the app.
- To respond to your questions and support requests.
- To meet legal obligations where they apply.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent your personal data.
- We never share your email address with advertisers.
- We never send spam — the waitlist means one launch email, no more.
Sharing your information
We share data only with service providers who help us run Scent — for example email delivery, weather data, cloud hosting and analytics — and only what they need to perform that service on our behalf. They are bound to protect it and may not use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above. If you join the waitlist and later ask to be removed, we delete your email. When you delete your Scent account, we remove your collection and associated data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with the law.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent or object to certain processing. You can unsubscribe from the waitlist at any time using the link in our email, or by contacting us. To exercise any right, email [email protected] and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Security
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls and reputable hosting providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you if a breach ever affects it.
Children
Scent is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where it is, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Scent evolves. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of Scent after an update means you accept the revised policy.
